First class this Thursday evening, December 5, at the Kroc Center!

We will have our first class meeting this Thursday at the Kroc Center, welcoming 13 new and 4 returning Guided by Kids students.

As part of our first class meeting, we are asking if you can bring new or used hats, gloves, and scarves to donate to Omaha elementary and middle school students lacking some necessary warm winter wear. Mr. Robertson has identified an organization that donates to schools that identify those coming to school without winter clothing they need, and gives items to the schools so those students can be warmer in these cold Nebraska winters. He and Ms. Shudak will gather the donations and take them to the organization to distribute. This is part of helping out with Share Omaha and "doing good" in our community.

We will mainly work on getting to know each other the first night of class, but students should also bring a notebook and pen so they can write down their first speaking assignment, and we will see a video of one of last year's students doing her speech on that assignment.

Guided by Kids is also fundraising this week as part of the International Day of Giving on December 3rd and has raised $1000 towards its $2000 goal for this fundraiser to help with expenses, entry fees at tournaments, one teacher's salary, and other costs of Guided by Kids.

We look forward to seeing everyone this Thursday evening, December 5th, at the Kroc Center, so we can begin learning about speech and debate and helping our communities!
