Guided by Kids 2026 Is Ready for Applicants!

Learn about debate, become a leader in your community, and have fun!

Guided by Kids will return to Omaha Marian High School, with classes for 5th-8th graders in the Omaha Metro area beginning on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, with each class session running from 6-7:30 p.m.

National Speech & Debate Association Hall of Fame Coach Fred Robertson and Nebraska State Champion Lincoln-Douglas debater Payton Evans will return for their 8th year as co-instructors for GBK, which has helped over 65 students learn vital critical thinking, research, speaking, listening, and debating skills since Guided by Kids was founded in 2017.

This year we also will resume adding a civic participation and involvement component to Guided by Kids, as our students will choose a project they can complete which will help others in the Omaha metro area.

Students who are ready to apply, with some assistance from parents/guardians--just go to www.guidedbykids.org and click on Application. We will limit class size to 15 students and you do need to answer the questions and fill out all information on the application in order to join Guided by Kids, so it is not too early to apply.
