Great Job at First Debate Competition!

Guided by Kids had two students earn speaking awards and semi-finalist trophies in the novice division at last Saturday's middle school debate competition at Elkhorn Valley View Middle School on April 22, 2023. Pictured above is one of our successful debaters--7th grader Lucy Kizer.

The debaters learned a great deal as they progressed through the day, making improvements and adjustments as they listened to their judges during the four rounds of preliminary competition. It was wonderful to see them work hard, have fun, and learn as they debated both pro and con on the resolution "The United States should increase funding to allocate for more renewable energy."

Guided by Kids students will have the opportunity to compete in two more debate tournaments, May 6 at Millard North Middle School, and May 13 at Omaha Marian!
